Parents charged for body in septic tank: 5-year-old found by septic tank worker The parents of 5-year-old Noah have been charged with child abuse and neglect after his body was found in a septic tank on the family's property. Jonathan Abate, who works for Montgomery Sanitation Services out of Christiansburg, was one of the septic tank employees who was there when the dead little boy's body was discovered in the septic tank. He was the first person to see Noah since he went missing last Sunday. As reported by Fox News on April 3, Abate described the moment when Noah Thomas' body was found. The septic tank was about 4 feet wide, 8 feet long and 5-and-a-half feet wide. "And we pulled the lid off the tank and started pumping, and that's when we seen the little boy down there,' recalls Montgomery Sanitation technician Abate. 'I'm just going to say when we started pumping and got half way down the tank, bout halfway down in the tank, and that's when I seen the little, I seen clothes. That's pretty much all I'm going to say." The discovery of 5-year-old Noah's dead body in the septic tank among sludge on Thursday, March 26, brought an end to a frantic search that had begun on Sunday, March 22. Noah's mom reported her son missing from their rural Virginia home on Sunday morning after he disappeared while she was taking a nap with their 6-month-old daughter. Noah's reportedly last known activity was watching cartoons, according to his mom. One day after Noah's funeral, his parents, 32-year-old Paul Thomas and 30-year-old Ashley White, were arrested on Thursday, April 2. Both are being charged with two felony counts of abuse and neglect of children and are being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond. The mystery surrounding Noah's death is an ongoing investigation. The day after Noah went missing, the couple's 6-month-old daughter was removed from the home. Pulaski County Commonwealth's Attorney Mike Fleenor shared that the removal of the girl and the charges against the parents 'are based upon information that we have now.' Noah's parents have been charged and the 5-year-old boy's body was found in the septic tank. Other than that, authorities are sharing very few details including Noah's initial autopsy results. The most detailed information available in Noah's death is the septic tank. According to Sheriff Jim Davis, FBI agents followed a tip to look in the family's septic tank. After FBI agents removed the two-pound plastic lid of the septic tank, 'they saw sludge, put the lid back on,' and called Montgomery Sanitation Services to come drain the tank.
