Price Pfister Shower Valve Repair Made Easy The Price Pfister two handle "Verve" shower valve is very reliable faucet. It is a no frills shower valve than stands the test of time, and when it starts to leak, it is easy to repair. I will walk you threw the process of a Price Pfister shower valve repair, and get that valve working again. Parts for this faucet are very reasonable priced and easy to find. Step 1 Before you start disassembling your shower valve you will need to turn off the water supply to your home. Every home is different, but you will need turn off the water to the home. Once this is done, open up several faucets to drain the water down from the water system. Also open the valves on the shower faucet to relieve the water pressure. From here you can start removing the handles and escutcheons. The standard handles use a simple retaining screw, after market handles may use a set screw, and an Allen wrench may be necessary. Handles that are hard to remove, may need a handle puller to break loose. Step 2 Once the handles and trim are removed, you can remove the faucet stems. Most of the time a socket wrench designed for faucet stems is needed to remove the stem. This tool can be found at hardware stores or online. After the stems have been removed use a seat tool to remove the seats. This is critical step because many make a seal. Sometimes the seat is stripped and a special seat removal tool is needed. This tool is usually found at a plumbing supply store. I do not recommend grinding the seats down, the real fix is to remove the seat and install a new one. Step 3 Now that all the parts are removed you are ready to install the new parts. Install the seats using your seat tool. Apply a small amount of pipe thread sealant on the threads of the new seats and tighten them in place. Next install the new faucet stems using your socket wrench. Before installing the new stems I usually grease the threads of the stems so they work well. Once the new stems are tightened in place, you are ready to turn the water back on. Step 4 Now that the water is on, test the valve for function and leaks. Usually you will need o tighten the packing nut. This nut is located closest to the user and when tightened, the stem will be harder to turn. Once you have everything working just right, you can install the trim and handles. This is the general order for repairing the Price Pfister "Verve" shower valve. This same procedure can be used with most two and three handle tub/shower valves. The only difference between these faucets will be the particular stems and seats. If this works for you, let me know how it went.
